If paying out of pocket:
If you currently pay for services out of pocket (not using insurance), then you are welcome to speak with your therapist about the possibility of receiving multiple sessions each week. Your therapist can discuss your treatment plan with you and help coordinate scheduling.
If using insurance:
If you currently use insurance (or EAP) to cover your services, then session frequency is determined based on an insurance term called medical necessity. Insurances often ask that outpatient psychotherapy be limited to once weekly. There are exceptions noted below:
- Crisis exception: If you are experiencing a crisis or a stressor causing you significant psychological distress, your therapist may justify temporarily increasing the frequency of sessions to multiple times per week until you feel more stable. Your therapist will work directly with our Billing Dept. to document this need to your insurance.
- Multiple therapy services exception: If you are currently in individual therapy, and/or group therapy, and/or couples therapy at Framework, most insurances we work with will allow you to attend multiple sessions in a week since they are different services.
